| OK,
I’m cracking up here. This issue was
particularly difficult to pull together thanks to a bunch of personal
issues that I have had to deal with over the last few months. I’ve
been, my dom dude has been ill, there’s been employment issues
for both of us, and financial issues for both of us. Normally,
this is all manageable stuff but because it was all happening at
the same time, it was rather challenging to deal with AND get the
damned zine out in time. This issue was created
using two computers in two different residences, I over wrote
a ton of work which made me do some formatting twice.
My email program is dying a slow death so getting mail is a pain
in the butt of the ‘not fun’ type. Communication in
general has been a challenge and consequently not everything I
wanted to happen for this issue happened. And then in the final
crucial two days prior to upload my computer decided to crap out
too – thank heavens for ‘system restore!’! Oh
well, shit happens and this last few months A LOT of shit has happened!
There is light at the end of the tunnel however and by the end
of November many things are going to fall into place for me and
the stress will become manageable again. Whew!
So as I was scrambling
to get the issue pulled together I was begging and nagging various
columnists to PLEASE send me their
stuff (most did, except for good old KJPS Howe – but then,
he’s like that – grin). I know he’s been working
on it for a while so I won’t complain too much…
But regardless of it
all, I got the zine up on the 1st, which is a personal deadline
I have never missed since I took over The
Dominant’s View. I heaved a sigh of relief and decided to
post the announcement for it on the 2nd. No big deal as it usually
takes me two days to send them out anyway. So I go to write my
editorial (oh yes, I’m living with a case of writer’s
block at the moment as well), I’ve started this thing half
a dozen times and just couldn’t write coherently on my chosen
topic. Today with a topic change it flowed nicely. But I wanted
to read over a few old editorials prior to writing this one…
So I go to the home
page and click on the editorial button, expecting to change the
url to take me back to the last issue. What do I
find? In my haste to get the zine up last night I forgot to switch
the menu bar over to the current issue so the links on the side
ALL reflect Issue 5! D U M B It’s fixed now though. The next
issue will be easier (I hope!)
Will all the crap it
took to get the issue out, it really did pull together. Here’s
what you get:
The Frugal Domme is our Dom of the Month. We interview
the producer of KINK (a Showcase documentary shown in Canada). Mistress Nancee
guest hosts Mistress’s
Musings this issue and talks about
her feelings on uniforms. Rod Hood (of Victoria B.C. Canada) sent
in some delicious B&W photography.
Our Features section
is full to the brim with Rover discussing whether or not the
BDSM culture REALLY wants to be accepted mainstream
(To Dream the Dangerous Dream). Mistress Rana of Las Vegas discusses
what it’s like to be kinky in a tourist town (The
Downside to Tourist Town Kink). The Leather Prof talks about folks new to
BDSM and their (Expectations and
the BDSM Community). Mermaid Master
talks puts his background to our use with (Thoughts
on Slave Development)
and Galen brings us the second part of his series (The
Elements of Ritual in D/s and BDSM). LOTS of good stuff in Features!
In the Dungeon Gnostic Twilight in Pissing
Around, which gives
us a great overview of piss play. The
Leather Panel welcome Master
Z of Texas who writes a timely article on traveling with yours
toys.
Our regular columnists
are all present and accounted for (except KJPS Howe who will
be a little late – cough). Master
Nage discusses multiple slaves, Billy tells us about a hot tub party
he was at recently, Ceidre talks about some struggles in getting
into the ‘right’ headspace to play with her switch
playpartner. Rick Umbaugh reviews a new book that he hopes will
be the beginning of some valuable studies on BDSM.
It’s a great issue,
I hope you enjoy it.
Wishing you all the best of the holidays,
Kayla Kuffs
