Work for TDV

I had an editorial all written up for this issue and then Hurricane Katrina blew through the southern states and wiped out the homes and jobs of hundreds of thousands of people. Suddenly BDSM and burnout had absolutely no meaning. The people in the southern USA need help and makes most our own issues miniscule in comparison.

The USA have sent aid all over the world during natural disasters. Sometimes we don’t like the way they do things, sometimes they cause problems the rest of us don’t appreciate but lets face it folks. It’s a government, not individuals who cause the problems. It is individuals who fix the problems.

There are individuals suffering in 90+ degree heat, with no water, no food and no shelter. We can help as individuals by sending money to KNOWN charities to help them get back on their feet again. It will take a long time to recoup for Katrina but for now, lets just try to get them through the next few weeks.

If you can send money to help, do so, if you can bring your lunch from home, pass up one drink after work, put off buying that new flogger until next month and send that money to help the victims of Katrina, you’ll be able to be part of the solution, which, to my way of thinking, is a generous way of showing that we are a global community and not just a bunch of kinksters looking for the next thrill.

Many local community groups are already trying to raise money to send south. That is terrific to hear, kudos to you all for taking a lead. Lets hope the people that need our help get it quickly.

And now onto this issue’s offerings:

First I'd like to let you know the Dominant's Forum is up and running again and we've opened a special segment for people affected by hurricane Katrina to check in and let us know they are ok. There will also be links placed there for ways people can help.

This issue also brings to you some great reviews of the kinky summer activities available this year, events in British Columbia, Manitoba and Washington kept many kinksters frolicking in sun. Jean Roberta reviews Midori’s book Wild Side Sex, The Book of Kink and a collection of BDSM erotica writer Lisabet Sarai’s collection of short stories, Fire.

Sensuous Sadie interviews Joel Tucker of JT’s Stockroom, and we give you instructions on how to finish those frayed rope ends in the Dungeon.

You’ve likely seen her posts about the happening in Southern California for years, now you get the chance to meet her. Our Dom of the Month this issue is Lady Badger.

Our features are varied this issue. Werewolf talks about lifestyle labels, and Mb_Master opines on BDSM history. Jamie Joy Gatto sends in her second in a series of articles she calls The Power Principles and we hear from Rob who discusses passion as an inspiration for submission.

Our regular columnists are all present and accounted for and we have the pleasure of showing you some beautiful photography from fetish photographer Lochai.

All in all we have a very full issue for your reading enjoyment.

Enjoy!
